Blog Tour + Review : The Legacy of Old Gran Parks by Isobel Blackthorn

The Legacy of Old Gran Parks

Set in Cann River in Australia’s rugged southern wilderness, The Legacy of Old Gran Parks is a tale of a remote town haunted by a legacy, a legacy with ominous consequences.

It’s a warm evening in the autumn of 1983 when Miriam Forster rolls into town in her broken down car.

Frankie the deer hunter, is up in the forested hinterland with her gun. Old Pearl the fisherwoman sits on her front deck down by the lagoon with her whiskey and her dog. And Emily, the English backpacker, scrubs out the pie-encrusted kitchen at the roadhouse.

All is not well. There’s a hoon doing donuts at the crossroads and screaming down the fire trails in the woods; a suspicious-looking city-slicker with two small children, squatting in Fred’s shack down by the lake; a beanie-headed gaunt guy convalescing at the lighthouse; and an acne festooned creature in the hotel room next to Miriam, thrashing about in the night.

Gran Parks is stirring. Who will survive? Who will get away? Who will stay?

The Legacy of Old Gran parks—is one of the rarest piece of story I ever read. It was unique and got an eerie exotic feel. A truly remarkable, and an unforgettable piece. Highly recommended to everyone.

Okay, so because this is the first blog tour that I ever hosted, I promised myself that I will not spoil anyone with the story.

The first chapter of the book will make you shudder. It was definitely a proof of the book’s eerie plot. The succeeding chapters were both shocking and mind breaking– and mind you, the ending was very unexpected– unless well, my understanding of the ending was different.

The characters in the book were few handfuls, though, it was a good thing. They were able to give out different perception and different vibes… something that will contribute to its chapter by chapter revelation and to its shocking ending.

Now that we’ve discussed the characters, let’s focus on the storyline. The storyline was pretty smooth and it was written in the way that you can imagine what was happening in the story due to its vivid description. And if you are indeed an imaginative person, few parts of the story will make you cringe.

This book is highly recommended to everyone who loves stories with a touch of mystery, suspense, and dark satire.

Looking forward to the author’s future literary works.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.OverAll Rating

The Legacy of Old Gran Parks received a rating of four heavenly book goodness! This book is a must read, well, the only thing that I didn’t like about the book is there were some parts where the phasings are slow, but hey ladies and gents, it was nevertheless suspenseful–well, eerie was the perfect term– an eerie story.

And with that, I will leave you with my favorite quote from the book to ponder on :

“Dying is a private affair” – The Legacy of Old Gran Parks
